GLP-1 Treatment Cost Questions, Answered
How much does GLP-1 treatment cost per month?
Your total monthly treatment cost depends on the medication you use, how you pay, and any provider or program costs. Published manufacturer reference prices for self-pay programs range from approximately $149 to $449 per month for the medication alone, with introductory offers as low as $199 for a limited period. Your actual cost may differ based on insurance, pharmacy, and program eligibility. Telehealth memberships, consultations, labs, and supplies can add $25 to $200 or more per month. Enter your actual or expected costs above for a personalized total.
How much does GLP-1 treatment cost per year?
Annual cost depends on your medication, provider, and additional costs. For example, a published self-pay price of $349 per month for medication alone corresponds to approximately $4,188 per year. Adding a $79 monthly telehealth membership and $25 monthly labs brings the total to approximately $5,436 per year. Introductory pricing and one-time consultation fees can make your first year different from ongoing years. Use the calculator above for a personalized estimate.
Does insurance affect how much I pay for GLP-1 medication?
Yes. Insurance can change what you pay out of pocket, but coverage varies by plan, formulary, and the product prescribed. This calculator does not determine whether you qualify for coverage or estimate your insurance benefit. Enter the amount you actually pay out of pocket for your medication in the medication cost field. If you are paying cash, enter the cash price or use the published reference price.
What is the difference between list price and self-pay price?
List price (also called wholesale acquisition cost or WAC) is the price manufacturers publish for wholesalers and pharmacy negotiations. Most people do not pay list price. Self-pay prices are published direct-purchase prices from manufacturer programs such as NovoCare and LillyDirect. This calculator shows both, but uses the value you enter or select.
What are manufacturer savings programs?
Manufacturer savings programs (such as NovoCare savings cards and LillyDirect savings cards) can reduce out-of-pocket cost for some commercially insured patients. These programs have eligibility requirements, expiration dates, and terms set by the manufacturer. This calculator does not determine your eligibility and does not use savings-card prices as default costs. See the manufacturer's official program page for current terms.
Why are compounded GLP-1 products not included as reference prices?
Compounded GLP-1 products are not FDA-approved. The FDA resolved the US shortage of semaglutide in February 2025 and tirzepatide in late 2024. In April 2026, the FDA proposed excluding semaglutide, tirzepatide, and liraglutide from the 503B Bulks List. The regulatory and enforcement environment for compounded GLP-1 products is changing. This calculator does not maintain reference prices for compounded products and does not recommend them. If you use compounded GLP-1, enter your actual cost in the medication cost field.
How much does a GLP-1 telehealth program cost?
Telehealth program structures vary. Some charge a monthly membership fee (typically $25 to $79 per month based on published provider pricing as of September 2026) plus the cost of medication. Others bill consultations separately, with initial visits ranging from $40 to $65 and follow-ups every 3 to 6 months. Some programs bundle medication, shipping, and supplies into a single price. This calculator does not recommend specific providers. Enter your actual program costs above for a personalized total.
What does compounded GLP-1 cost?
Compounded GLP-1 prices vary by provider, dose, supply duration, and pharmacy. Published prices from telehealth providers as of September 2026 range from approximately $60 to $199 per month for compounded semaglutide and $90 to $199 per month for compounded tirzepatide, plus any membership or consultation fees. These are not Calcuja reference prices. Compounded GLP-1 products are not FDA-approved, and the regulatory and enforcement environment is changing. This calculator does not recommend compounded products or providers. Enter your actual cost if you use compounded GLP-1.
Why is my first-year cost different from the ongoing cost?
Your first year may differ from ongoing years for several reasons. Manufacturer programs may offer introductory pricing for the first 1 to 2 months (for example, NovoCare offers Wegovy injection at $199 per month for the first 2 fills, then $349 per month). Telehealth programs may charge a one-time initial consultation fee. These one-time and introductory costs make year 1 different from subsequent years. This calculator shows your first-year cost separately from your ongoing annual cost.
Does the calculator determine my insurance coverage?
No. This calculator does not determine whether you qualify for insurance coverage, prior authorization, or any manufacturer program. It does not estimate your copay, deductible, coinsurance, or insurance benefit. Enter the amount you actually pay out of pocket for your medication and other costs. For coverage questions, consult your insurer. For current pricing, consult your pharmacy or the manufacturer's program.
What does monthly equivalent mean?
Some providers sell multi-week or multi-month supplies rather than billing monthly. A monthly equivalent is a mathematical normalization — the total supply cost divided by the number of months it covers. It does not mean the provider literally bills that amount every month. This calculator uses the costs you enter, so enter your actual monthly equivalent or monthly billing amount.
Is this calculator medical advice?
No. This is a financial cost estimator. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, dosing guidance, or determine whether a medication is appropriate for you. For medical questions, consult a licensed healthcare provider. For coverage questions, consult your insurer. For current pricing, consult your pharmacy or the manufacturer's program.
How This Calculator Works
Ongoing Monthly Cost
monthly = medication + membership + labs + supplies + shipping + other + (annual_followup / 12)
medication— Your entered actual cost, or the ongoing reference price if you entered $0annual_followup— Follow-up cost × (12 / interval months)- Consultations are annualized and shown as a monthly equivalent
Source: User inputs with published manufacturer reference prices
First-Year Cost
first_year = intro_med + ongoing_med + monthly_recurring × 12 + initial_consult + annual_followup
intro_med— Intro price × intro months (if applicable)ongoing_med— Ongoing price × (12 − intro months)monthly_recurring— Membership + labs + supplies + shipping + otherinitial_consult— One-time first-visit fee
Source: User inputs; intro pricing from manufacturer programs where supported
Ongoing Annual Cost
annual = ongoing_monthly × 12
ongoing_monthly— Your total ongoing monthly cost (includes annualized follow-ups)- Represents a typical year after introductory pricing ends
- No inflation adjustment — prices assumed constant
Source: Simple multiplication; GLP-1 pricing changes frequently
Multi-Year Total
total = first_year + ongoing_annual × (years − 1)
years— 1, 2, or 5 (your selection)- Year 1 uses first-year cost; subsequent years use ongoing annual
- No inflation or price-change assumption
Source: Simple multiplication; not a price forecast
